Philippians 4:7 (KJV)

This verse completes Philippians 4:6-7, Paul's prescription for anxiety. If verse 6 is the instruction (pray about everything), verse 7 is the promise (God's peace will guard you). Paul uses the phrase 'which passeth all understanding' deliberately—this peace doesn't make sense. Circumstances might still be hard, but your heart can be at rest. Paul is writing from prison, physically bound, and yet he has peace. That's the kind of peace he's promising you.

This is the promise that follows prayer: peace. Not the peace that comes from having everything figured out. Not the peace that comes from circumstances improving. The peace of God—which surpasses understanding. You can't explain it, and you can't manufacture it. It's supernatural. And it doesn't just comfort you—it guards you. The word 'keep' is a military term. God's peace stands guard over your heart and mind like a soldier protecting a fortress. Anxiety is the invader. God's peace is the defense.

Have you prayed about the thing that's worrying you? If so, now receive the peace God promises. Not peace because the problem is solved, but peace because God is sovereign and He's holding you. Let His peace stand guard over your anxious thoughts. When worry tries to invade, remember: you've handed this to God. His peace is guarding your heart. Trust it.
