Prayer for a New Job

And my God will supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

Philippians 4:19 (KJV)

Whether you're searching for your first job, transitioning to a new season of work, or waiting to hear back from an interview, the uncertainty can feel heavy. You may find yourself caught between hope and worry, wondering if the right opportunity will come. This prayer invites you to bring that whole burden to God—not as a anxious plea, but as an act of trust in His provision and His perfect timing for your life.

A daily KJV verse, delivered as a text message every morning. No app to open.

The Prayer

Lord, I come before Thee with a grateful heart, yet also with genuine need. Thou knowest the desires of my soul and the longings I carry for meaningful work. I ask that Thou wouldst guide my steps into employment that honors Thee and provides for those I love. Give me wisdom to discern the right opportunity, clarity in interviews and conversations, and favor with those who have power to hire. Help me to trust not in my own strength or credentials alone, but in Thy sovereign provision and perfect timing. Remove from me the anxiety that tempts me to grasp at the wrong doors; instead, grant me patience to wait upon Thy leading. Let my work, when it comes, be a reflection of Thy character—honest, diligent, and done unto Thee as unto the Lord. Prepare my heart to be a faithful steward of this calling, knowing that my ultimate provision comes from Thy hand. Grant me courage to step forward, discernment to choose wisely, and faith to rest in Thy faithfulness. I surrender this season to Thee, trusting that Thou art working all things together for my good. In Jesus's name, Amen.

Amen.
How to Use This Prayer

Pray this each morning as you send out applications or prepare for interviews, anchoring yourself in God's provision before the day pulls you into anxiety. Return to it whenever fear or discouragement rises—especially in the quiet moments when doubt creeps in.

Reflection

God is not indifferent to your need for work. He sees you in the waiting, in the applications, in the nervousness before an interview. The promise of Philippians 4:19 isn't magical—it means God knows what you genuinely need, and He is faithful to provide it in His way and time. Sometimes that provision comes through an open door you didn't expect; sometimes it refines your character in the waiting itself. What matters is that you're learning to trust His character, not just His circumstances. When you pray for a new job, you're really saying, "Lord, I believe You're good, and I'm choosing to trust You even when I can't see the next step." That's the posture that transforms waiting from torment into spiritual growth.
