What Religion Is Young Thug?
Young Thug has been an enigmatic figure in hip-hop, and one has wondered where his spiritual convictions lie. Although he has never been explicit about his faith, his discography and beliefs have sparked conversations about his religion.
Ostensibly, Young Thug is a Christian. He has mentioned Jesus Christ and God throughout his music, but he has never fully expressed his beliefs. In “Hot,” from his 2009 mixtape Singles, he raps “Then Jesus Christ will judge me/And it seemed to go on forever/It was the Lord that I prayed to/I said, Lord please bless me.” Additionally, he has said “Praise God” on multiple occasions.
However, some have speculated that he is a member of a religion known as the Five Percenters, which is an offshoot of the Nation of Islam. In his song “King Troup,” he says “I am a Five Percenter, I got an ark big as the Titanic.”
Although he has never publicly discussed his faith, some observers believe that Young Thug is a spiritual seeker. He has expressed an interest in Buddhism and Eastern philosophies and has called himself a “lightworker,” which is a person who uses their spiritual energies to heal, nurture, and teach others.
In the end, it is difficult to say exactly what religion Young Thug follows. He has never been explicit about his beliefs, but his lyrics, interviews, and occasional spiritual pursuits suggest he is a spiritual seeker. His beliefs appear to be a blend of Christianity, the Five Percenters, and Eastern philosophies, but only he can answer definitively.
