Sarah Jessica Parker is an American actress, producer, and designer who is best known for her role as Carrie Bradshaw on HBO’s hit series, Sex and the City. She has been nominated for several Emmy and Golden Globe awards, and she is one of the most beloved actresses of the modern day.
But what is not widely known is that Sarah Jessica Parker is actually Jewish. She was born on March 25, 1965 in Nelsonville, Ohio to the parents of Stephen Parker and Barbra. Stephen is a Jewish man and Barbra is Catholic. Growing up, Sarah Jessica Parker was brought up in both faiths, with her mother teaching her about the Catholic faith and her father teaching her about the Jewish faith.
Throughout her life, Sarah Jessica Parker has kept her Jewish faith close to her heart. She has spoken in several interviews about the importance of both religious symbols. She even revealed that she wears a Jewish star necklace to honor her father’s heritage.

Sarah Jessica Parker also had a traditional Jewish wedding ceremony when she married actor Matthew Broderick in 1997. The wedding was officiated by Rabbi Victor B. Spielman and featured traditional Jewish elements such as a chuppah, the breaking of a glass, and the singing of “Siman Tov” and “Mazel Tov.”
In addition to honoring her Jewish heritage in her personal life, she also supports various Jewish causes. She is a strong advocate for Jewish education and she supports the Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles. She is also an executive producer on the hit Broadway show The People in the Picture, which is about an elderly Jewish couple and how they survive World War II and the Holocaust.
