Is Ryan Gosling A Mormon?
Most people know Ryan Gosling as the widely acclaimed actor and heartthrob, who has starred in numerous critically acclaimed films such as La La Land, Blade Runner 2049, and The Notebook. However, some are unaware of his connection with The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, more commonly known as Mormonism.
Though he was raised a Mormon, Ryan Gosling has never shied away from discussing his faith. In an interview with The Guardian, he described his relationship with Mormonism as “complicated”. He was quoted saying, “I was raised in it, but I’m not that actively involved. I’m fairly knowledgeable about it, but it’s not really my thing anymore.” When asked if he still considered himself a Mormon, he replied, “I guess. Yeah, I guess so.”
Despite no longer being a devout practitioner of the LDS faith, Ryan Gosling has spoken about the positive influence it has had on his life. In an interview with GQ, he detailed the core values the religion instilled in him, saying, “It was all about working hard, being honest and having integrity. Those are still the core values I live by.”
Though he may not be an active participant in church services, Ryan Gosling still identifies as LDS and has adopted certain aspects of the faith. He has said on multiple occasions that he prays before his screenings, which is a tradition that is common among Mormons. He has also been featured in a pro-Mormon advertising campaign, which was shot back in 2008.
Overall, while Ryan Gosling is no longer an active participant in Mormonism, his faith still plays an important role in his life. He has expressed gratitude for the guidance Mormon teachings have provided, as well as its emphasis on hard work, honesty, and integrity. Ryan Gosling may not be a Mormon in the strictest sense, but its influence is still present in his life and career.
