How Long Was Noah And His Family In The Ark?
Noah and his family spent 372 days in the Ark according to the Bible. In the book of Genesis, God instructed Noah to build an ark and to take two of every kind of animal, seven of the clean animals, a male and a female, and to bring seven of each kind of bird into the Ark (Genesis 6:19-20). God told Noah that a flood would come which would destroy every living thing that did not enter the Ark, and so Noah and his family, along with the animals, all entered the Ark once it was completed.
The Ark floated on the waters of the flood for 40 days and 40 nights. During this time, Noah and his family were responsible for caring for the animals and birds, and would have been on constant watch to ensure that everyone and everything in the Ark was safe. Genesis 8:6-7 tells us that after 150 days, the waters started to recede and the Ark rested on the mountains of Ararat.
Once the Ark had been on the mountains of Ararat for some time, God told Noah to send out a raven, and then a dove, to see if the waters had subsided. When the dove returned with an olive leaf in its beak, Noah knew the waters had receded and he could leave the Ark. The dove was sent out three more times, and each time it returned to the Ark, until finally at the end of the 372nd day God told Noah that he and his family, along with all the animals, could leave the ark (Genesis 8:14-16).
Noah’s journey in the Ark was a difficult one full of uncertainties and fears, but his faith in God and the power of prayer kept him and his family safe. It is an incredible story of devotion and perseverance, and an excellent example of how faith can help us through even the most trying of times. By reading the story of Noah and the Ark, we can be encouraged and reminded that God is always with us and will never forsake us.
