Do Jehovah’s Witnesses Believe In Jesus?
Jehovah’s Witnesses are a Christian denomination whose doctrine is rooted in the belief that Jesus Christ is the son of God, who died for the sins of mankind and was resurrected.
The belief in Jesus is a fundamental tenet of the faith because it is through Jesus that Jehovah’s Witnesses believe salvation is achieved. This is because they believe that Jesus’ death offered humanity an avenue of escape from the slavery of sin.
The Watchtower, a publication of the Watch Tower Bible and Tract Society, states that the death of Jesus has atoned for original sin, the sin inherited from Adam and Eve, and has made available a path to salvation and eternal life. In this way, believers in Jesus are freed from the consequences of their own sins and can walk in union with God.
Jehovah’s Witnesses also believe that Jesus is fully divine, not merely a mere man with divine attributes. They reject the traditional Christian doctrine of the Trinity, believing instead in a single-person deity, Jehovah. Nevertheless, they do consider Jesus to be the only begotten son of God, with a unique relationship to God the Father.
Jehovah’s Witnesses also believe that Jesus’ death and resurrection were the fulfillment of biblical prophecies, thereby proving that he was anointed by God. They cite the book of Isaiah, which proclaims that the one to come would bear the sins of many and redeem them.
Furthermore, they accept that Jesus was born through the miraculous intervention of God and was born without sin, making him the perfect sacrifice. As a result, they believe that Jesus can grant all believers immediate and complete forgiveness of their sins.
Jehovah’s Witnesses also believe that Jesus ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of God, and that he serves as their Mediator and Intercessor. They believe that Jesus is actively engaged in the governance of the heavenly kingdom and that he will soon return to establish the Kingdom of God on earth.
The beliefs of Jehovah’s Witnesses concerning Jesus are rooted in their interpretation of the Bible, and they are passionate about spreading their faith in him as the son of God and the only hope for salvation. Their ministry is driven by the conviction that anyone who comes to Jesus will receive an abundant life, both now and for eternity.
