Emotions In The Bible About Horror
What Are Bible Verses About Horror?
The Bible contains several verses that talk about horror and its effects on humans. These verses speak to our understanding of the power of horror, the impact that it can have on our emotions, and the importance of staying rooted in the assurance of the promises of God.
One of the strongest verses regarding horror comes from Isaiah 8:13-14. It reads, “The Lord Almighty is the one you are to regard as holy, He is the one you are to fear, He is the one you are to dread. He will be a holy place; and for both Israel and Judah He will be a stone that causes men to stumble and a rock that makes them fall. And for the people of Jerusalem He will be a trap and a snare.” This passage speaks to the power of fear, and how even those that are faithful can be affected by it. It also speaks to the importance of seeking God’s refuge and strength in times of terror. This verse is a reminder that even the strongest among us can be taken in by fear, and that it is important to seek out the protection of the Almighty.
Another passage that touches on the power of horror is from Psalm 55:4-5. It reads, “Fear and trembling have come upon me, horror has overwhelmed me. And I said, ‘Oh, that I had the wings of a dove! I would fly away and be at rest.” This speaks to the feeling of helplessness that comes with experiencing horror. It also speaks to the powerlessness that we can feel in the face of terror, and how we can feel the need to flee and find a safe place.
The book of Revelation speaks extensively of the horrors that will come in the end times. In Revelation 6:15-17, we read of the terror that will be seen on Earth, “Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. They called to the mountains and the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! For the great day of their wrath has come, and who can withstand it?’” This speaks to the terror that will bring about the end of the world, and the need for protection from the wrath of God.
These are just a few of the many verses in the Bible that speak to the power and terror of horror. Each verse serves as a reminder of the strength of God’s love and power over evil, and that even in the midst of the darkest of times, God will never leave us alone. We can take comfort in knowing that God is with us and that He will always protect us.
It is important to remember that horror can have a profound effect on us, both mentally and physically. However, we can take shelter in the words of the Bible, which remind us that God is the ultimate source of strength and protection. We can draw upon His promises of hope and find solace even in the darkest of times.
